David Stein’s rug presents a striking exploration of contrast, scale, and minimal gesture. Defined by a deep black field interrupted by a bold, luminous yellow form, the composition creates a strong visual tension between void and presence. The simplicity of the gesture gives the work a powerful, almost architectural clarity, where color becomes the central element of expression.

Handcrafted in New Zealand wool by the Boccara workshop, the rug emphasizes material density and surface depth. The richness of the fiber enhances the intensity of the black while allowing the yellow form to stand out with remarkable vibrancy. Its large format (320 x 420 cm) reinforces its spatial impact, transforming the piece into a defining element within the interior.

Through this work, David Stein develops a visual language that is both radical and refined. The rug functions as a contemporary composition in space, where minimal form, color, and material come together to create a bold and enduring presence.
