Boccara at PAD Paris 2026

April 8, 2026

At PAD Paris, Boccara Gallery will present a selection of important twentieth-century tapestries, highlighted by Sao Paolo by Fernand Léger. A leading figure of modernism, Léger developed a visual language defined by bold color, rhythmic composition, and a synthesis of human and mechanical forms. In Sao Paolo, these elements come together in a dynamic composition that translates powerfully into tapestry, where the woven medium enhances both structure and depth.

Alongside this work, the presentation will include notable tapestries by Alexander Calder and Man Ray, among others, illustrating how major artists of the twentieth century embraced tapestry as an extension of their practice. Calder’s Balloon Barrage reflects his signature balance of movement and simplicity, while Man Ray’s Legend introduces a more conceptual and graphic dimension to the medium.

Together, these works highlight the important collaboration between modern artists and historic weaving ateliers, which played a central role in the renewal of tapestry during the twentieth century.

We look forward to welcoming you at PAD Paris, April 8–12, Booth N°73.
